Gintonego: A distilled spirit of excellence from the heart of Grado
Gintonego was born from the intuition and passion of Riccardo Gaddi in 2013, inside the cellar of Trattoria De Toni, a place of meeting and tradition located in Grado. This small island, nestled in the southernmost part of Friuli Venezia Giulia, was the cradle where the idea of Gintonego began to take shape, turning from a simple dream into a tangible and appreciated reality.
The story of this 'lagoon-scented gin' is a testament to dedication and love for one's land: in fact, after years of experimentation and research into the best ingredients and recipes, 24 June 2022 marks the official birth of this unique distilled spirit. The first production counts 1056 bottles, each of which represents a tribute to the richness and biodiversity of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Gintonego is in fact a product that draws exclusively from local ingredients, carefully selected from suppliers and nurseries that share a commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. This distillate spirit stands out not only for the quality of its components, but also for the ethical and environmental choices behind its production. The bottle, for example, is made of Wild Glass, which incorporates up to 100 per cent recycled glass, reaffirming the company's attachment to the principles of ecological responsibility.
Gintonego's label is a tribute to Grado, the Island of the Sun, highlighting Riccardo's pride in his roots and the environment that inspired and nurtured the birth of this gin.
The Ingredients of the Gintonego
The composition of the Gintonego reflects a careful choice of natural elements, which give the distilled spirit a distinctive and nuanced aromatic profile:
Juniper (Juniperus): the balsamic and slightly herbaceous heart of the gin.
Coriander (Coriandrum sativum): Coriander seeds round off and soften the flavour, adding a delicate complexity.
Angelica (Angelica archangelica): angelica roots stabilise the aroma, perfectly balancing the other ingredients.
Sea wormwood (Artemisia caerulescens): the tops give a light balsamic note and a distinctive briny accent.
Tincture of sea wormwood (Artemisia caerulescens): a cold infusion of the summits of sea wormwood, which gives the gin a slightly bitter note for a drier, more intriguing finish.
Gintonego is more than just a gin: it is the expression of a land, an identity and a tradition that is being renewed. With its launch, Riccardo Gaddi and his team invite enthusiasts and the curious to discover not only a high quality product, but also a story of passion and an indissoluble bond with the island of Grado.
